cake and pizza, cake and pizza, cake and pizza, cake and pizz

that’s what going through my head all day. i have to take my little girl to a birthday party around dinner time and I am incredibly aware of the fact that cake and pizza will be served. about an hour ago I said, eh – i’ll eat some cake and pizza.

really, i should not eat the cake and pizza. i have eaten next to nothing today and can easily rationalize it with “i’ve been good all week” etc. More likely I will rationalize it with “If i want to be successful with this way of eating I can’t totally deny myself blah blah blah”

Oh well, I dunno – i have been saving up my Naughty for a hot fudge sundae.

Of course, 3 weeks ago I was living on ice cream, candy bars, cookies, chips and heros so eating really healthily 98% of the time is pretty good! Can’t you just see how the little-devil-and angel-on-my-shoulders thing is totally happening right now?

UPDATE: No cake or pizza was consumed at the party.

Getting there

almost at the end of my first week, it feels good. i am more clear-headed. I think i was barely functioning, in a sugar-induced daze. I was irritable and easily overwhelmed/confused/distracted before but I feel happy now, more energetic and am able to stay on task.

It seemd like now that i am getting my eating under control I can start getting other aspects of my life under control. My house, my bills, appearance.

It is going to be a long path to healthy and I have strayed before, i really need to stick with it all this time.

Tomorrow is Official Weigh-In Day. I hope to see some good news!

5th Day Freakout / Daily Menu

AKA Migraine Meltdown

I had PMS fatigue from hell and had totally over-done it the day before, having an exhausting day that ending at 1am. I woke up with the worst sinusy headeache that just got worse through the day and around 2pm I ate a huge chunk of leftover ice cream cake that was in the freezer. I was desperate. I had taken sinus pills, tylenol, tried to nap, had eaten well all day so far, was hydrated and I thought maybe I was having some kind of sugar withdrawal.  In the future I will not try to feed a headache, this is a bad habit I have.

If the ice cream cake hadn’t been there I am sure I would’ve eaten french toast sticks or waffles or who knows what but I moved on from it and had a reasonable dinner.

I need to be more flexible anyway, i tend to get hardcore and then it’s hard to recover from a slip or stay hard-core forever. Today will be better :)

Late Breakfast:
3 eggs over medium

Snack:
Cashews
Pickle

Migraine Meltdown:
Giant Chunk of Carvel Cake

Dinner:
Salad: baby spinach, cucumbers, radishes, scallions, shredded carrots & red cabbage, sliced almonds
2 tblsp Caesar Dressing
+/-  1c spaghetti bolognese (wasn’t into it, so i had 2 servings of salad)

Day 4 Menu/Sneaky early weigh-in

Yesterday was just nutty but eating was a snap. I didn’t crave and had lots of energy that lasted through an incredibly long and busy day. I think it’s working!! I got on the scale this morning and it’s going down… yippee!!

Breakfast
2 Scrambled eggs / .5 tblsp butter

Snack
large roasted portabello mushroom cap with a little melted shredded jack cheese on top, yummmmm

Lunch -very limited choices at a sit-down post-communion luncheon
small garden salad with mysterious creamy dressing. it wasn’t heavily dressed and had good stuff in it.
6oz steak (guessing the size) with gravy on it
green bean (sitting in the same gravy lol)
didn’t eat the fancifully swirly-piped mashed potatoes
drank lots of water
experienced much stress and anxiety over the kiddy-table, must be good for a few extra calories burned :P

more calories burned: walked around amusement park for 4 hours with family, kids had ice cream, i did not

Dinner
Salad w/tuna, romaine, baby spinach, scallions, radish, mushrooms, shredded red cabbage & carrot, sliced almonds, olive oil & red wine vinegar and a little parmesan cheese

Made it through

It was a longgg day but i made it. Everything reminded me of hot fudge sundaes for some reason though. Anyway, I ate pretty well. Tomorrow I am going to have an insane day, mostly out of the house and having lunch at a party, so I will have to really try to find good food options.

Breakfast

Lunch
2 italian sausage with peppers/onions (no bread)

Snack
handful of Snow Peas

Dinner
big salad: romaine, baby spinach, shredded red cabbage & carrots, cucumber, mushrooms, scallions, sliced almonds and a bit of shredded cheddar cheese w/ 2 tblsp olive oil & 4 tblsp red wine vinegar
